Boundaries that govern Ward 126

RANDBURG – Ward 126 is unique in its layout and challenges that it faces.

Ward 126 councillor Mike Tonkin laid out the exact boundaries of his Ward so that residents can understand where his Ward starts and ends.

According to Tonkin the problem lies in the fact that his Ward crosses many suburbs in Roodepoort and parts of Randburg.

He said, “My Ward runs from Beyers Naude Drive all the way along Christiaan de Wet Road to Hendrik Potgieter and Jim Fouche Roads.” Tonkin added that this includes J.G. Strydom Road and also covers a large area inside Randpark Ridge.

“The streets that Ward 126 falls under in Randpark Ridge is Bloekom Drive, Collins, Spreeu, Farrow, Nell, Dale Lace and Rankdoring Avenues,” continued Tonkin.

Although the Ward isn’t one of the biggest in Joburg it poses a unique challenge with regards to crime as CPF Sector 2 chairman Neville Burnett explained.

Burnett said that Sector 2 falls under parts of Roodepoort, Honeydew and Randpark Ridge and the difficulty comes in as crimes differ in each area. “The only way for residents to stay informed about crime in Ward 126 is for them to attend the CPF Sector 2 meeting that will take place at Honeydew Police Station in the boardroom at 7pm on 28 May.”

He added that these meetings take place once a month on the last Thursday and residents are welcome to attend.
