“Remarkable…Magical…Surprising…Amazing! — ” Those were just a few of the words used to describe the recent Mr and Miss Maragon 2015 pageant.
The contestants put on a show for the judges and audiences with a too school for cool theme, at the school in Ruimsig. One audience member said, “The opening scene could have given Glee a run for its money.”
The reigning Mr SA, Armand du Plessis who was an adjudicator, said it was an honour to have supported the school and saluted them on a job well done.
“I have always been very proud to be from the West Rand and something that has always stood out for me is how supportive this community has been,” he said. “The event on Thursday was most certainly in a league of its own and is one of the best I have ever attended.”
The pupils entertained the crowds with glamorous outfits and left everyone with a breath-taking experience. At the end of the evening, however, there could only be one king and queen.
Brandon Viera and Boitumelo Leshoeli were crowned Mr and Miss Maragon 2015 respectively.
Together they said, “Even if you did not win, it is about the life lessons that we learned and the boost in confidence. We want to use our titles as a platform to make a difference in the community and set an example for others.”
Kyla Molata was crowned Miss Pearl with Christopher Changfoot as Mr Pearl. Together they said, “It has been a great experience and it was a great deal of fun. It really was not about winning. At the end of it all, it was about making new friends.”
The senior winners were:
Second prince: Richard Dixie.
First prince: David Rodriques.
