Advice for aspiring young businesswomen
RANDPARK RIDGE – Young women in business can learn from a pillar of the community, Carlin du Toit.
Carlin du Toit empowers young women to grow in business.
Du Toit is a resident of Randpark Ridge and works for jewellery designer, Jenna Clifford, and is Clifford’s brand ambassador.
Du Toit said more education is required to be successful in today’s information economy.
“Be sure to get a qualification at a good university or a technikon. Also keep on expanding your knowledge by continuously researching or doing a few short courses,” she added.
According to the young businesswoman, finding a mentor is a great advantage to guide you in the right direction.
When asked what one can do after receiving their tertiary education Du Toit replied, “Do an internship. Having some experience to put on your CV will give you a great advantage when applying for a good job. This is because entry-level jobs are not as readily available today, even after undergoing education.”
In this digital day and age networking is key, she said.
“Being a young adult today means you were reared in the age of technology and change. You are therefore empowered to shape the world as globalisation and technologies are interlinked,” added Du Toit.
“You have the power to generate incredible concepts. You are adaptable, energetic and creative. As a young [woman] you have these advantages and so, upon entering the business world, you should never stand back.”
