Meet Mrs SA Semi-Finalist: Candice Abrahams

Candice Abrahams, a resident of Honeydew is one for the semi-finalist in the Mrs South Africa pageant.

• Who is Candice Abrahams?

Candice Abraham (32) is a mother of two. I am married to my biggest supporter and best friend Ismail Abrahams. I am dynamic and creative, a model at Boss Models Johannesburg, aspiring actress, fashion and decor blogger and business woman.

• Why did you decide to enter the Mrs South Africa pageant?

The Mrs South Africa pageant is an empowerment programme, allowing for personal growth and networking. It will provide me with an opportunity to market my brand and what I stand for on wider scale.

• What does it mean for you to become Mrs South Africa?

It’s always been my vision that if we start moulding and shaping our young girls, providing them with the proper equipment, they can become confident, successful leaders in society, owning the title will provide me with that platform to fulfil my dream.

• Have you always wanted to become part of the pageant?

No, only after researching about the competition I established that it was more of an empowerment programme than a pageant. I was intrigued and decided to enter a few days before the closing date.

• What can the country expect from you?

I dissent bullying, it’s a huge problem internationally, leading to low self-esteem in our young children, causing depression and even suicide. Personally, I was bullied throughout my school career and I found a way to deal with it – I focused on my career and persevered through. I want to make that change by starting with the foundation which are the children of our country, shifting their mind sets, by encouraging, enhancing and empowering them to be positive and uplift each other.

• What are the three fun facts about you?

I love karoake and boxing. I’m a huge prankster. I’ve been pranking my family around the house since primary school. My kids help me prank my hubby – it’s so much fun.

• Were you always a beauty queen

No, but when I was five years old I was scouted to join Model Management in Durban, I hated it. Every Saturday for years I would make excuses and say I have headaches to get out of it. It was only till I was in high school when I really enjoyed entering pageants and always making the top three did I realise how much I enjoyed it. I really gained so much confidence.

• What is your beauty secret?

Always wear sunscreen.

• Who inspires you?

My kids, they inspire me to be great. I just want to be the best version of me.

• Why should the country vote for you?

I aim to harness my unique strengths in my community, which is uplifting the youth via an empowering campaign, help me make a difference starting with the youth.
