City Power fix the lights

ALLENS NEK – No lights for five months and residents are left in total darkness.

Resident Carlos Raposo has literally been in the dark for five months since the streetlights in his street stopped working.

According to Raposo, this is not the first time that this has happened.

“I have been living in the area for the last 14 years and the streetlights outside my house in Rondawel Avenue have been off more than they have been on.”

His son Carlos junior, explained that they have been calling City Power numerous times since November.

“All they do is give reference numbers but nothing else ever gets done,” said Carlos junior.

He added, “Not only is this entire side of the suburb in darkness but it’s also dangerous as criminals love the dark. They have broken into our neighbours house numerous times. My father is an old, retired man and this is not good for his health.”

According to Raposo the problem is also in Road 2 that connects to Rondawel Avenue.

Ward 126 councillor Mike Tonkin said that he is aware of the situation and will follow up with City Power to find out when they are planning to send out a team to fix the streetlights.

“City Power please send a crew to come and assist,” concluded Raposo.
