Two cats shot with pellets
STRUBENS VALLEY – Resident upset after two of her cat were shot by a mysterious neighbour using a pellet gun.
Resident Deane Walker has two cats that she adores.
In February she noticed that both of them had been shot with a pellet gun.
Walker believes the incident happened at the start of this year but the family only noticed it a bit later as the cat was licking its neck continuously.
“We noticed that Kuro had a lump of gump that she was licking and we decided to take her to the veterinarian. According to the vet, the cat had been shot with a pellet gun.”
The bullet was lodged into her neck so deep that the vet didn’t want to remove it as he feared that it might cause more pain and discomfort.

She continued and said that something strange happened shortly thereafter.
They noticed that their second cat called Monkey, was also licking herself and the family took it to the veterinarian, only to discover that she was also shot by a pellet.
Walker explained that this spurred her to action and she sent a letter around the suburb warning her neighbours about someone that is shooting her cats.
“We have our suspicions of who did it, but we can’t do anything without proof as the cats roam around freely and occasionally they jump over walls to neighbouring properties.”
Veterinarian at Bromhof Vet Le-Anne Kleynhans commented, “It is cruel and unethical to shoot any animal with a pellet gun, regardless of a person’s reasons for doing so. Depending on where the bullet lodges it can cause severe damage, such as shattering a bone. In some cases it may even be lethal, for example if it enters the heart. Regardless of what or where the bullet hits it will cause the animal significant pain and discomfort.”
