U13 hockey teams rise to the challenge
RUIMSIG — Maragon's U13 girls hockey team scoops the trophy at the PSI Indoor Hockey Tournament.
The U13 girls’ and boys’ teams at Maragon recently entered into the Pro Series Indoor Hockey League during February and March.
Coach Craig O’Brien said despite the tough competition from the other teams, they came out strong in the Top 5.
“We were placed in an overall position of fifth out of nine teams that entered into the league. We are extremely proud of the way the team conducted themselves.”
The girls had an equally successful season, losing just one game in their pool. This propelled them into the semi-finals against MCC where they won 4–2, placing them in the finals.
“Our little Eagles made us exceptionally proud in their final match against Beaulieu, clinching a 4–0 win. They walked away as PSI Indoor U13 girls champions for 2015. This is an excellent achievement for our school,” said proud coach of the girl’s team, Merheza O’Brien.
The Pro Series indoor hockey tournaments consists of leagues, regional, all stars and national tournaments. It caters for both girls and boys for a variety of age groups from U11 to U18.
