Two-vehicle collision leaves three injured

HONEYDEW — A mother and children injured during cash-in-transit collision.

A mother and her two children were rushed to hospital after a cash-in-transit vehicle collided with their light motor vehicle on the corner of  Beyers Naudé Drive and Juice Street on 3 March.

“The mother and her two children sustained moderate injuries, the two security guard also sustained moderate injuries and [were treated on scene and transported to hospital],” said ER24’s Gauteng regional manager Gareth Staley.

According to one driver of the light motor vehicle Sam Kgatitsoe, the robot had turned green when he was driving down on Beyers Naudé and he was in the intersection to turn right into Juice Street when the cash-in-transit vehicle collided with his car.

“I had stopped in the middle to wait for the cars in the opposite direction before turning. Everyone had stopped and I couldn’t see the other car coming, he was in the turning lane. I only saw the car right at the corner, as he collided into me. Amber or red, I cannot say, but it was an opportunity for me to turn right into Juice,” said Kgatitsoe

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by Honeydew Police.
