Thabile Ngwato: The new face of broadcasting
AUCKLAND PARK – Thabile Ngwato chats to Jeanette Chabalala about her growing empire.
Thabile Ngwato is fast becoming a heavy weight in broadcasting.
The new face of broadcasting is creating massive leaps in the media world. For the past years, she has captivated and enthralled the nation with her inspiring work ethic.
Her journey started at YFM and moving into television was a natural progression for the 24-year-old.
“I was very patient when I started off, the hard work that I do behind the scenes has paid off,” said the lively Ngwato.
She also presented the educational youth show Sistahood on e.tv between 2012 and 2013, then joined the SABC TV news as a producer and then as anchor.
Now, Ngwato has expanded her horizons. She recently joined SAFM as a presenter, and she prides herself in being part of the world economic forum global shaper.
“I came to Joburg to do what I love, I literally get to do what I love every day,” said Ngwato.
“I am very blessed to be in an organisation like the SABC, I learn a lot, it is a great training ground.”
Ngwato also has her own media company called Ngwato Media, which she hopes will lead to the education and employment of young South Africans.
Born and raised in Mpumalanga, the young and articulate television and radio presenter hopes to add value and change people’s lives.
She also believes that the best people in television started on radio.
However, like any other person, Ngwato has had her fair share of ups and downs but believes hard work makes all the difference.
Ngwato looks up to BBC’s South African born and raised Lerato Mbele, who is arguably one of the best in broadcasting.
“I watched her a lot when I was younger and I am impressed by her, she is very inspirational and I think I am getting there,” she said.
Ngwato also believes that people shouldn’t try to become something they are not.
“You can be who you are, and work hard, and have an excellent work ethic. You don’t have to be something you are not. You are never too big, or successful to learn – you can literally be anything that you want to be,” Ngwato advised.
