Celebrating national police day

JOBURG – Members of the South African Police services are remembering heroes and heroines who passed away in the line of duty.

South African Police Services (SAPS) members are celebrating National Police Day on 27 January.

This year’s National Police Day is to commemorate the 20 years of the existence of the service and showing commitment to a professional service delivery program that every community and individual can expect from SAPS.

The celebration is dedicated on remembering heroes and heroines who passed away in the line of duty.

Colonel Vishnu Naidoo explained that although today marks national police day, they will be celebrating on the 30 January at Mpumalanga. Naidoo stated that on the day,various activities will be taking place.

“The aim is to establish and strengthen partnership with communities,” said Naidoo.

Constable Carol Mulamu of Linden police station also agreed.

“This day means a lot of things for us, we remember the sacrifices that our men and women in blue have made and continue to make,” she said.

“We are also showing the community our service excellence and showcasing different department to serve the community.”
