POORTVIEW – King's School first biggest group of matriculants achieves outstanding results.
POORTVIEW – King’s School West Rand achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2014 Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matric exams – 94 per cent of the pupils achieved a university entrance.
School principal Ken Langley said he was pleased with the results. According to Langley, 2014 saw King’s School register their biggest group of matriculants in the school’s history.
No less than 43 distinctions were produced at King’s School this year, which is a slight decrease compared to the 45 distinctions of last year.
The school’s top achiever is Natasha Ferreira who boasts with eight distinctions. She said though she is not surprised with her results, she did not expect to do this well. “I had a very hectic year, I was sick very frequently and somehow felt that I will not do this well so I can say this was purely achieved by God’s grace.”
Like any other matriculant who awaited their results, it was very stressfull for her and some of her peers. “We kept on checking each other and most of us were panicking, we were relieved when the results were released two hours earlier.”
Ferreira will be studying for a Bachelor of Arts (General) at the University of Pretoria. She is also in the top one per cent in the country for Afrikaans.
