117 distinctions for Maragon
RUIMSIG – Distinctions abound for Maragon Matrics.
The nail-biting wait came to an end for Maragon Ruimsig Private School’s Matric pupils on 31 December when the Independent Examination Board (IEB) released the matric results for 2014.
There was not much activity at the school as not many pupils went to collect their result statements and many sent their parents to collect it on their behalf. “Because the pupils received their results by SMS, most of them already knew their results,” explained Deputy Principal of the school, Samantha Smit.
The school achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with 91 per cent of the matrics qualifying for entry to Bachelor Degree – up from 85 per cent in 2013 – and nine per cent qualifying for entry into Diploma.
In total, Maragon produced 117 distinctions which is lower than the 163 distinctions produced last year.
The top achiever at the school was Estee Strydom who achieved eight distinctions and was also in the top one per cent of candidates for Afrikaans in the country.
Reece Venter is another pupil who did well by achieving seven distinctions. Devon Redl, Carla Devantier du Plessis and Theo de Jager all achieved six distinctions.
Jason Stuart and Reem Kousa achieved five distinctions and Kousa was in the top one per cent of candidates for Mathematical Literacy in the country.
Smit said they congratulate their 2014 graduates on their remarkable performance. “Our educators are also congratulated for their continued tenacity, encouragement, warmth and dedication. It is their belief in the infinite potential of each learner that enables Maragon Ruimsig Private School to produce these fine results,” said Smit.
