Learn the value of art for growing minds.

LITTLE FALLS — Help develop your child's awareness and social skills from the comfort of your home

Art is often downplayed as just a hobby and something that cannot provide any real learning.

The educators at Trinity House in Little Falls are bringing the creativity into the classrooms and encouraging your little ones to let their creative juices flow. According to research, creative activities are some of the most essential building blocks for the development of a young mind.

Be it painting or drawing, making art leaves children with a feeling of emotional satisfaction and assists with the physical development and enhances fine and gross motor skills.

Principal of Trinity House Pre-primary School, Lynn van Jaarsveld, said, “Caregivers, parents and even teachers should plan regular creative activities with their toddlers to stimulate and develop their minds. These activities can ultimately help with the wellbeing of a child’s mental, social and emotional skills.”

Get creative with materials around the house and encourage them to create something of their own. Allowing them to choose what they will make and using which material, helps them gain independence.

“Making art builds children’s self-esteem by giving them opportunities to express what they are thinking and feeling. One of the goals of art education, is to make children more creative – regardless of how or where their creativity will be used,” concluded Van Jaarsveld.
