A successful ‘Kersteë’ for our senior citizens

RUIMSIG – Local old age homes are treated and spoiled during an annual festive event.

RUIMSIG – Local old age homes were recently treated to a day of being dined and spoiled by the Grade 10 Afrikaans class at Maragon.

The annual function, dubbed “Kerstee” has been running for eight years now and this year, The Roodepoort Sentrum vir Bejaardes, Floroma, Môreglans and Luipaardsvlei homes were the guests of honour.

Maragon edcucator Adri Wheeler said, “each grade 10 household contributed to the tea and refreshments. We also had gifts that were handed out to our guests. They really enjoyed themselves and loved to treat and spoil our senior citizens.”

Held in the school’s grand hall, the event came right in time for the season of giving and doing good and the school bus was used to transport everyone to and from the event.

Wheeler reiterated to all the guests and pupils present on the importance of Christmas and giving back to your community during this time. “This time of the year, often the people that need help and a little nurturing the most, go unnoticed. We just wanted to give our older community members a special night, just for you.”

Guests enjoyed a day of feasting and were entertained by the Maragon pupils, who put up an impressive dance showcase, to the delight of every person present.
