Residents in the dark regarding load shedding schedules
ROODEPOORT – City Power worker Sydney Mphahlele explains that the entity is only following orders from Eskom regarding the power outages.
Load shedding is a term hated by residents and loathed by councillors and after a weekend without power residents want answers.
Ward 89 councillor Ingrid Reinten said that they receive daily updates from City Power about when the shedding will happen. “The one problem is that they don’t seem to be following the published schedules. The entity is also behind on their updates on its Twitter account and it makes it extremely hard to communicate with residents about what’s going on.”
Sydney Mphahlele from City Power said, “The load shedding is carried out by Eskom and we do not implement load shedding until instructed to do so by them.”
He added that the load shedding schedule is on www.citypower.co.za. “Residents should be able to see their schedules ahead of the time, so that they can plan accordingly.”
