Not a mere donation but an investment in the future
LASER PARK - Vega Instruments South Africa donates another car to Roodepoort Child Welfare.

On Friday 7 November, John Groom, managing director of Laser Park-based business Vega Instruments, handed over a vehicle as a donation to the Roodepoort Child Welfare.
The handover took place at the child welfare’s premises in Discovery, Roodepoort. This was, in fact, the company’s second vehicle donation to the child welfare. The first vehicle was donated last year.
While handing over the car keys, Groom expressed how pleased they were as company to assist to the child welfare. He explained that he was touched by the Roodepoort Child Welfare’s Angelique McAdam’s plea at one of the business networking sessions when she explained how they were struggling with unroadworthy vehicles.
The vehicle is donated with a full-service maintenance plan, insurance covered by Vega and fuel.
Groom said he believed with the vehicle, the welfare volunteers will be able to do their work more efficiently and allow them to arrive on time wherever they are needed. “You are doing such a wonderful job for the community that we live and work in.”
According to Groom, the donation will serve as an investment in the future of the country. “Our business is firmly built on family principles and values where we are about creating sustainability and opportunities for generations to come.” He added that with another vehicle in the fleet of the child welfare, more destitute children will be saved on time. “That child could be our future customer or even employee,” concluded Groom.
McAdam expressed their sincere gratitude for the donation as said it came at the right and best time. “One of our vehicles was recently involved in an accident and was written off. So we really needed another vehicle,” explained McAdam.
The vehicle will be added to their fleet and will help them with their daily duties that they have to do. “It will ease things for us when we have to, among other things, do home visits, attending courts and collecting children from unsafe environments or homes,” said McAdam.
Roodepoort Child Welfare has also been chosen as the the main beneficiary for this year’s ‘Women of Substance’ Charity Ball which will be held on 22 November and promises to be a star-studded evening at Silverstar.
