Slippery roads ahead
WELTEVDREDEN PARK — Motorists are warned to drive carefully ahead of first season rains.

Ongoing rain and thunderstorms are quite natural during summer and car accidents in rainy conditions are commonplace.
On 26 October a driver lost control of his car and crashed into a tree on Pendoring and Fern roads in Weltevreden Park.
Quick Response Ambulance Service transported one person to Flora Clinic for X-rays. Denver Ramnarain from Quick Response Services said, “Due to the rain the driver lost control of the vehicle. The new rains cause the oil to lift from the tar and causes cars to lose control.”
SA weather services forecaster Dipuo Tawane, advised motorists to drive carefully, especially during the first rains of the season. Tawane said the cloudy conditions would most probably persist until Wednesday.
Ramnarain added, “People need to drive slower than normal in the rain and keep a safe following distance.”
