City Power ‘official’ cuts locks in order to access power boxes in the area.
Weltevreden Sun complex resident Dave Rankin explained that on 25 July a man, claiming to work for City Power, came around to check out the power boxes in the complex and after complaining that all of the boxes were locked, the man returned on 28 July with a side-cutter and cut off all the locks in the complex to gain access to the power boxes to do the readings.
He said, “The funny thing is its now about three months later and the locks are still in the same state as the man left them.”
He explained that a man wore a City Power outfit. “This seemed strange because City Power officials are all supposed to have a universal key that opens all of the locks in the various areas and this man with a side-cutter seemed a bit out of place.”
Rankin added that he logged a complaint with the City of Johannesburg but has not yet received a response. City Power spokesperson Sol Masolo explained that the entity is still busy researching the complaint and will revert as soon as they have more details on what exactly happened on 28 July.
