Pupils prepared for life after Rotary Youth camp
ROODEPOORT – Pupils ready to be better leaders after they attended a Rotary Youth Leadership camp.
Pupils from Roodepoort learned a lot at the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp that took place from 3 to 5 October.
According to the Director of Service Projects at the Rotary Club of Roodepoort Adam Ismail, “The aim of the camp was to further develop the personal and leadership skills of the pupils that attended the camp.” He explained that the camp focused on their skills in areas of communication, personal qualities, leadership and problem-solving strategies.
“All of the topics and skills were covered in workshops that had large and smaller group discussions afterwards. The pupils on the day also had time to do recreational activities as a team and time to get to know each other,” he added.
Ismail said the district hosts two camps every year and each Rotary Club got the opportunity to send and sponsor two pupils to attend the camp.
Ofenste Dikolomelo and Minah Madlala from Roodepoort were two of the pupils that were selected. Dikolomelo said that the camp was an experience of a lifetime and he will never forget the lessons that he learned on the camp.
Madlala added, “I found the tools to assist me with my studies and everyday life in order to become a successful individual.”
