Book gives tips for teenagers in South Africa
HONEYDEW MANOR – Kubeka urges teenagers to make wise choices about their lives and their studies.
According to writer Nozi Kubeka’s new book Teenager, be wise, teenagers form most of their values when they are still young. She said, “The foundation of any teenager is very important because they will always cling to and remember what you as parent told them.”
Kubeka grew up on a farm outside Bergville in KwaZulu-Natal. She adds that this lifestyle with all of her chores taught her important life skills. “Currently, life is about doing things as fast as possible, the microwave method but teenagers need to learn to work for things they want. This all forms part of my book and tips for teenagers and their life in general.”
Her book touches on eight different important parts of a teenager’s life and these categories are: choices, decisions, education, time, health, relationships, integrity and ubuntu. “All of these categories help to train the young minds of teenagers to learn how to live and what to do to succeed.”
Kubeka explains that she got her degree at the University of the Witwatersrand and she continued her studies until she received her honours degree from the University of Cape Town. “My beautiful three children inspired me to write this book about teenagers as each of them perform extremely well in everything they take on. I am using this book to give teachers and parents advice on what to do to raise a well- mannered teenager in today’s society.”
The writer also makes time to go around to schools where she does motivational speaking for free. “It’s about inspiring the teenagers and showing them what to do to reach their full potential. The first tip I give to young females is to study further first, before you have children as they will be more mature after their studies to make important choices like finding the right life partner – also one of the things that I talk about in my book.”
She concluded and said that her book is available at most Christian book stores but schools and companies can call her to order books and arrange a motivational talk.
