Successful 2014 Motocross Championship concludes at Syringa Park
MULDERSDRIFT – Motocross Nationals end off on a high note at Syringa Park.
The 2014 South African Motocross Nationals took place at Syringa Park recently.
The riders were all fired up with the MX 50cc Junior, MX 50cc Pro, MX 85cc Juniors, the MX Pro Mini, Grand Masters, Masters and Veteran classes that had to battle it out for top spots on the day.
According to Monster Energy spokesperson Sebastian Clay, the MX 2 Seniors opened the day.
“One of the ‘oldest’ riders in the group, Wyatt Avis, surprised everyone when he took the lead during the qualifying race and he took the win at the end of the next heat.
The next class MX1 (450F), also known as the premier class, held a couple of surprises for the fans. “Lloyd Vercueil took the first spot after the qualifying round and Michael Kok took the first place at the first heat. The last and final heat and the MX 1 Championship was won by Roodepoort’s own Sacha Naudé. The third class, where the youngest and newest riders to the sport compete in, is called the 125 High School Junior and Senior class.
“The two fastest riders of the day were Reid Sinnicks and Jason Visser who secured to two pole positions after the qualifying round. Visser took the championship after he came second in the final heat.”
He added that Sinnicks was a late entry into the class and surprised the crowd when he performed so well after he was absent from the sport for a while.
Clay concluded and said he wanted to thank every supporter who took time out of their busy schedules to come and support the riders at the races, as it made a huge difference to the championship.
