Pupil set to represent Maragon at national karate tournament

RUIMSIG – Megan Jacobs will represent Maragon Private Schools at the International Shotokan Karate Festival National Tournament.

A Grade 9 pupil from Maragon Private Schools will attend the upcoming International Shotokan Karate Festival (ISKF) National Tournament on 30 August in Pretoria.

Megan Jacobs will be participating as a member of the ISKF Gauteng North team and has qualified to be included in the elite group, after acquiring her black belt in karate and obtaining her ISKF provincial colours.

“I am actually very excited because the last time I made the national team was for 2009, but it was the same year I moved overseas,” Jacobs said.

“I teach my sister karate at home because she gets bullied, so karate is a good tool to defend yourself,” she added.

The school’s marketing manager Belinda Espag said, “We wish Megan all the very best for the 30th and are equally proud of her achievements. Megan Jacobs may look like a quiet, ordinary school girl, but she is a lady with hidden talents,” Espag added.
