Whose cables are they anyway?
WELTEVREDEN PARK - Sector 2 CPF chairperson believe the cables discovered under a bridge could be linked to the frequent power outages.
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Though Honeydew Police have confirmed that cables found under a bridge on Cockspur Street in Weltevreden Park were not City Power or Eskom cables, Sector 2 Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson Neville Burnette strongly believes these can be linked to the frequent power outages in Weltevreden Park.
“For the past few weeks, we have experienced a lot of power outages,” Burnette informed.
He said he made the discovery while he was busy doing patrols in the area, ahead of their planned resident’s association river clean up.
According to Burnette, these cables were stolen and then hidden under the bridge.
Though there are no vagrants living under that bridge, he wondered if there was a possibility of linking the case to the people who normally wash clothes and bath under that bridge.
Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs confirmed that their officers attended to the incident.
“The cables were taken to the police station and it was found that they were neither City Power nor Eskom cables,” said Jacobs.
She said their detectives are investigating to see if the cables could be linked to any other case.
