R1 200 worth of goods recovered during robbery at Clearwater Mall
ROODEPOORT - Two perpetrators were arrested for shop lifting from Clicks at Clearwatermall.
Two perpetrators were arrested while another escaped when they were caught shoplifting from a Clicks store at Clearwater Mall on 9 July.
According to store manager Patience Nomvalo, three males walked into Clicks and pretended to shop.
“One stood in the [pharmacy dispensary] queue as if waiting for consultation with a nursing sister. The other two were collecting items in the store, putting them in a basket and giving them to the gentleman in the queue, who put the goods in a foiled bag,” said Nomvalo.
She said they hid the items in a foil bag to pass unnoticed through the sensors at the store’s exit.
The perpetrators then exited the store, walking very fast.
“This made the security official at the store suspicious and he apprehended them. Two of the perpetrators were taken to the control room with items worth R1 200 and the police were contacted,” she added. Nomvalo said the other perpetrator fled in a white Golf.
“The incident happened around 6pm and the police arrived after 7pm and a case was opened at Honeydew Police Station,” she added.
Honeydew police confirmed the case was opened and that the perpetrators are due to appear in court soon.
