Northwest Christian School held a joyous celebration to mark their 21st birthday and the opening of their new building on Saturday 1 March. The ribbon was cut by the school’s first two staff members from 21 years ago, Kathy Raath and Kerry Reed, and a plaque was unveiled by the principal, Bastiaen Norel. Despite the rain, most of the school community attended the ceremony and enjoyed a spit braai supper afterwards, prepared by the dedicated PTA, as well as a laser show.
The new building boasts seven large classrooms including a music room, each with a projector and wi-fi, new administration offices, a staff room, ablutions, a staff work room and a store room. There is also a wi-fi hotspot with an interactive board in a comfortable seating area.
A school badge was created out of suckers to commemorate the event, which the children enjoyed after the ceremony.
