RUIMSIG - Grade 6 Maragon pupil represents in Serbia

At the end of September 2013, Grade 6 pupil at Maragon Private Schools Riccardo Colandrea competed at the South African National Gymnastic Games in Pretoria. Here he was selected to represent the country at the 2013 Serbian International Men’s Artistic Gymnastics competition, which took place on 7 and 8 December. Fifteen countries were represented, most from central and eastern Europe.

Colandrea competed in a class where most gymnasts were older than himself, but that did not deter him. On the first day the South African team as a whole achieved great results, with Colandrea winning third place. He then went on to qualify to compete in the individual competitions, and on the third day he walked away with a silver medal for the parallel bars and a bronze medal for the rings.

Maragon marketing manager Belinda Espag said they were extremely proud of Colandrea’s achievements. “He wore his SA colours with pride and dignity, and we wish him the very best for this year again.”
