In the dark over streetlights
WILGEHEUWEL - City Power technicians arrive and leave streetlights in same state
Streetlights are not only there to light up an area. They also decrease crime levels as criminals prefer dark areas where they go unnoticed.
According to Wilgeheuwel resident Tienie Venter, City Power has continuously made false promises with regards to fixing several street lights in the area. He stated that the entity did send a team out on 2 December, but nothing was fixed. “The problem is that we log calls and receive reference numbers but nothing gets done about the lights and the entity never follows-up on queries.”
City Power spokesperson Sol Masolo said, “Our electricians fixed the streetlights in Sovereign and Krugerrand roads but they still need to go back and repair the lights in Muntstuk Avenue.” Masolo apologised for the delay and noted that the entity will have a full workforce within the next week as some of the technicians are still on annual leave.
