Roads Agency off to a good start

WELTEVREDEN PARK - J.G Strydom Road repaired during December

The Johannesburg Roads Agency surprised residents in Weltevreden Park when they re-tarred a large piece of J.G Strydom Road during the festive season.

Ward 126 councillor Mike Tonkin explained that the road had been in a bad condition since October, after the agency dug up the road and left it in that state for three months.

Tonkin said, “Residents had been sending me their reference numbers for the last couple of months and I had escalated the situation to various managers at the entity.” He added that residents expressed their anger and frustration about the road to him but he could only do so much about the situation. “I have to commend the entity for finishing the job before the end of 2013 during the festive season,” he added. Roads agency spokesperson Mosa Makhalima said that the road took so long to fix because the entity had a long list of problems to fix before the end of the year. “Residents should remember to log any issue in their area and escalate the matter to their local ward councillor,” Makhalima emphasised.
