A community-based initiative brings residents together in the spirit of shared history

On Saturday 23 November Little Falls and Strubens Valley Community Forum (Lifco) held a history talk about the Gold Rush. The talk was held at the Strubens Valley Library and is part of Lifco’s community-based initiative, aimed at uplifting the community.

Historian Rod Kruger gave the talk and attendees gained clear insight into how Struben brothers Fred and Harry first began mining gold.

Kruger had with him documents which comprised part of the agreement contracts allowing the Struben brothers to begin their mining endeavors.

“I learnt so much, it helped me understand my area even better. Now I know where Fredenharry Road comes from,” said Manny Legobe, a young audience member.
