There are several soup kitchens in your area and they could really use your help
NORTHSIDE – With the holiday season just around the corner, why not do something special for the large amount of underprivileged people in the area.
Roodepoort has many soup kitchens dedicated to providing a hearty and healthy meal to those who need it. Here is a short list for local soup kitchens who are always in need of an extra few pairs of hands.
- New Harvest Christian Fellowship hosts a soup kitchen every Wednesday morning from 9am at 23 During Road, Harveston, Honeydew. Details: 011 794-3836, nhcfsecretary@gmail.com
- Luipaards Vlei NG Kerk in Krugersdorp hands over food parcels to the needy on Thursdays and Fridays where they feed 21 adults and 19 children. Details: Dawie 072 954 7945
- The Dorcas Project, aided by Barnibus Unite Chruch, Gabriel Anglican Church, Florida Methodist Church and St. Michael’s Catholic Church runs a soup kitchen every week day at 9.30am. Details: Richard 083 415 5729
- The Constantia Kruin Church runs several projects in the area. At the Sunrise Centre in Kagiso, they provide breakfast, lunch and snacks to the children on a daily basis. Kronen Park’s white informal settlement receives breakfast daily, as well as potjie kos three times a week. They also hand out bread in Dobsonville on a weekly basis.
