No-show at security training
Domestic workers security training not a top priority, it seems
On Wednesday 9 October Sector 3 CPF and Honeydew SAPS held a domestic workers security training session at the Strubens Valley library.
Sessions such as these are aimed at equipping domestic workers with the skills and knowledge needed to remain vigilant and to protect themselves in the event of a threat.
Sector 3 CPF chairperson Daniel Smith said he was very disappointed with the poor attendance. Of the two domestic workers present at the training, one was Smith’s own employee. Smith emphasised the need for these training sessions on an on-going basis. “The criminals’ trends and approaches change, with these sessions we help with updating workers with the latest tricks they [criminals] use.”
The CPF has scheduled another training session that will be held at the Strubens Valley clinic on Wednesday 23 October at 2.30pm. Employers are urged to encourage their domestic workers to attend.
