The Thandanani Centre in Zandspruit received a financial boost from Trinityhouse and the Kingsway School in Randpark Ridge.
The school’s Grade 8 pupils raised the funds by selling fudge, brownies, walking dogs, and arts and crafts for five weeks. R225 242,95 was handed over to the children of the Thandanani Centre during Trinityhouse’s assembly.
Trinityhouse teacher Karen Cosh, who runs the project, said many corporate donations are also generated. “Corporates can still donate until the end of the year. This year the money is aimed at the running costs of the centre. In previous years we gave them a Siyaya minibus and we renovated the cottage at the centre.”
In addition some pupils visit the centre weekly to help the children learn new skills and play with them.
