On 29 August at 2am a large contingent of police members from different units attended a briefing parade at the Honeydew Police Station. These members were then divided into searching groups. The first phase of the operation was held in Zandspruit informal settlement. The informal settlement was searched and the following was achieved:
- 312 premises searched,
- 1138 people searched,
- 239 vehicles checked,
- 5 cellphones recovered,
- 1 quad bike recovered,
- 34 knives handed in,
- 3 shebeens raided,
- 31 illegal immigrants arrested,
- 2 suspects arrested for possession of drugs,
- 1 suspect arrested for possession of possible stolen goods,
- 3 fines issued.
Phase two constituted two roadblocks held on Marina and Beyers Naudé Drive.
The third and final phase, the second-hand dealers operation, was a joint operation between the police, City Power, Emergency Medical Services and the Water Board. Scrap metal, recycling and other second-hand dealers were visited. Three businesses were closed and four businesses received warnings for illegal trading.
