Yet another sash has been draped on Maragon School’s Grade 11 pupil Renaldo Nel’s shoulder.
On 17 August Nel was crowned Second Prince in the Mr Gauteng competition at Montecasino in Fourways.
“All contestants had to do a “Paris walk” and then each of us walked individually,” Nel said.
He was selected as one of the top five participants. “Then I was asked a question: What is more important – beauty or brain? My response was that beauty is less important because everyone is beautiful in their own right.”
Nel participated in the senior category which consisted of five contestants.
“I enjoyed the event so much. You meet new people and it really builds your confidence. I did know two of the other participants. One is a friend of mine, Tyler Bowker, who I met at the Face of Clearwater Mall competition.”
Nel expressed how beautiful the Miss Gauteng contestants were. “The guys are still getting used to the whole idea of modelling and pageants.”
For Nel the journey has not ended, other pageants in support of charity are underway.
“I would definitely do it again. My friends and I had a wonderful time.”
