Life Flora Hospital changes visiting hours for lockdown
One hour per day that also excludes children and the elderly
A time of adaptation and change will be forced upon the South African public over the next three weeks. Organisations and facilities have been scrambling to ensure that those who rely on their essential services have all the information they need.
Life Flora Hospital will be making adjustments to its visiting hours to ensure the safety of everyone in the hospital. “At Life Flora Hospital the well-being of our patients, staff, doctors and visitors is of paramount importance and we are committed to creating a safe environment in support of infection prevention and control,” stated General Manager of Emergency Medicine at Life Healthcare, Dr Charl van Loggerenberg.
Visiting hours will now be for one hour per day only between 3pm and 4pm. The number of visitors permitted during visiting hours is one per patient, per indicated visiting time slot. This means that a patient may have one visitor per day for a maximum of one hour between 3pm and 4pm only.
The new restrictions will also affect children and the elderly. “In addition to the above, we request that no children visit the hospital unless it is an emergency, as children have an under-developed immune system. Persons over the age of 60 or who are immune-compromised must also avoid visiting patients at Life Flora Hospital until further notice,” continued Dr Van Loggerenberg.
“For the safety of our patients, visitors, employees and healthcare practitioners, please note that indicated visiting time slots may be amended at any time based on Covid-19 developments. Please phone the hospital to check for updated visiting times,” he advised.
A Frequently Answered Question document is available on the Life Healthcare website: and more information on Covid-19 is available from the NICD: or call the NICD 24-hour hotline on 0800 029 999 / 0800 111 132.
The hospital will manage all other infections through its dedicated team of infection prevention specialists who are experienced and qualified healthcare workers with extensive training in Covid-19. Dr Van Loggerenberg concluded, “Life Flora Hospital wishes to thank the West Rand community for its ongoing support. We will continue to ensure that standard hospital operations continue as normally as possible during this challenging time.”
