The Roodepoort Licensing Department is answering all your questions

Have all of your questions answered during the Roodepoort Licensing Department's week-long awareness campaign.

“Nearly every day innocent people, who have worked hard for their money, are robbed by an opportunist looking to make a quick buck.” These are the words of Mercy Kubayi, Head of Licensing at the Roodepoort Licensing Department.

Unfortunately, Roodepoort residents (as all other South Africans) are no strangers to the concept of being conned out of their hard-earned money. Licensing departments, Home Affairs offices, and basically anywhere that requires residents to stand in a queue to get what they need, are hot spots for what can only be described as daylight robbery.

The Florida Licensing Department is one of the most infamous spots where this happens and has often been in the hot seat with customers complaining that they were robbed or conned out of money there. Unfortunately it happens everywhere, and residents need to constantly be cautious so they can make sure that what they have worked for is safe.

The Roodepoort Licensing Department has decided that they will launch an awareness campaign, which they are hoping to make a regular occurrence. For one week, employees and managers will be stationed in an information tent outside their offices to create awareness about the hot spots, the modus operandi of perpetrators, and more.

The Licensing Department is taking steps to eradicate this problem, but the more awareness they can raise the better.

The information tent will also be covering issues of:

• Service delivery information

• Office hours and extended office hours

• Registration and licensing procedures

• Applications for a Duplicate Registration Certificate

• Acceptable proof of address documentation in terms of the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996

• Information pertaining to Certification Stamps not older than three months

• The importing and exporting of motor vehicles

• Registration of new companies, trusts, or business owners

• Acceptable applications and registrations completed by a third party (on behalf of someone)

The Roodepoort Licensing Department is hoping to shed light on issues that the community struggle with and will therefore be covering every aspect of their services and trading hours.

Residents are urged to attend the awareness campaign and get answers to any questions they have had in the past relating to licences.

The campaign will be held from 23 to 27 March in the parking lot of the Roodepoort Licensing Department, at the Town Hall on the corner Dieperink and Berlandina Streets.
