Several areas being fed from the Manufacta Substation were without power for several hours last night, 12 February, following a trip at the station. Technicians were on site at 7.15pm, tests were conducted at 8.30pm, and at 12.09am on 13 February, City Power notified residents that the power had been fully restored.
Unfortunately, some affected areas were still without power. The Penny Street and Reyger Street feeders tripped, leaving Witpoortjie, Culembeeck A.H, and surrounding areas without power.
At approximately 3am, most of Witpoortjie’s power had been restored, and by 4.30am, 65 per cent of the power in both had been restored. According to ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin, City Power was still experiencing trouble with five mini-substations in Lichtenstein, Gulden, Van Alkmaar, Boren and Hendrik Boom Streets in Witpoortjie. No Estimated Time of Repair (ETR) was given, but the Record will keep residents updated as more information becomes available.
