Lions Club Wilro Park keeps shoes on the community’s feet
Two schools donated the shoes they don't use
The Lions Club Wilro Park have made it their personal mission to ensure the soles of their community are protected. A continuation of their ‘Donate the shoes that you don’t use’ project, they teamed up with two charitable schools to collect bundles of retired school shoes.
Outgoing matrics of Trinityhouse Little Falls and Krugersdorp High School, who would be wearing their schools shoes for the final time, donated their black leather Toughies to a good cause. They left their shoes behind in what was not only a kind gesture but a symbolic act of freedom. Combined, the schools managed to donate over 100 pairs to less fortunate learners.

Sandy van Heerden of Lions Club Wilro Park was incredibly appreciative saying, “We sincerely thank the learners who kindly left their school shoes behind at the end of the 2019 school year. We have already donated many pairs to learners in need of school shoes and will continue to do so to help as many as possible to have a decent pair of shoes to wear to school. We sincerely thank Trinityhouse Little Falls and Krugersdorp High School for helping us to help others.”
The project will continue as The Lions Club Wilro Park aims to put shoes on the feet of the underprivileged. They invite the community to donate any shoes that may be collecting dust as there is always a pair of feet in need. If you would like to help, please contact Sandy van Heerden on 083 564 6388.
