After postponing substation maintenance in early January due to load shedding, City Power has notified residents that the previously scheduled maintenance will continue as initially planned.
This means various areas in Roodepoort will be without power on Sunday, 26 January. According to City Power Spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, now that load shedding has been suspended, the entity is able to continue with maintenance to ensure that their network performs at the most optimal level possible. The maintenance will also ensure less power trips, substation problems, and unplanned outages.
Mangena said that just like our cars need services at regular intervals, so do the substations. If we fail to service our cars, then the problems will get worse and there will be more problems to fix and replacements needed when the car does eventually break down; the same goes for substations.
The outage will take place from 8 am to 4 pm and will affect the following areas:
