Catering for the younger boxers
At Boxfanatics children from as young as three years old will be welcome.
From knocking out some of the best boxers in the ring to becoming a kickboxing king and training some talented boxers and kickboxers, Shorne Moorcroft has achieved the ultimate in his career.
Shorne has participated in various competitions and won the South African kickboxing title, the World Championship title, and was also the South African featherweight kickboxing champion, to mention a few.
He later opened his own Ring Contact Fighting Art School at the Danie van Zyl Recreational Centre, where he trains some talented boxers and kickboxers. He was also appointed as the chairperson of the Johannesburg Amateur Boxing Organisation, and is a provincial judge and referee.

This year, Shorne has opened a junior training club that will be called Boxfanatics, where children from as young as three years old will be welcome to get some boxing experience.
The benefits of teaching a young child boxing far outweigh the risks. According to MMA Smart, this sport can give a child a significant boost in stamina and endurance as it involves a vast number of movements, resulting in good oxygen circulation throughout the body. Boxing also requires coordination and balance, which are beneficial to a child’s development. Boxing teaches young children confidence, social and leadership skills, and it develops strategic thinking.
“We are looking to train the youngsters not to fight, but to help them develop from a young age. With boxing, children will learn hand and foot coordination, and it will help them develop their motor functions. Boxing also teaches a child self-discipline and respect, and will help with that extra energy. We will start off with small exercises to develop them gradually, and then teach them the basic skills of boxing,” Shorne explained.
