The Oxford English Dictionary defines possibilities as the likeliness that things may happen or be the case.
Gloria Steinem said, “Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
If we are not willing to think outside the box and open our minds to possibilities, then we close the doors on a lot of opportunities. We need to be open to the best of what could happen if we want something good to happen. Doubt and fear are toxic and can hold us back from seeing all the possibilities and opportunities in our lives.
Mildred D. Taylor wrote, “So many things are possible as long as you don’t know they are impossible.”
If you don’t acknowledge that something may be impossible, or if you don’t believe it is, you open yourself up to the possibility of achieving it or finding out what you need to achieve it. The mind is a powerful thing.
Mahatma Gandhi said, “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
If we feel like something may be holding us back, then we need to make a concerted effort to change it. Adopt a new perspective on what you have already seen, that you may not like, and then turn it into something good.
Roy T. Bennett said, “Turn your obstacles into opportunities and your problems into possibilities.”
