The Oxford English Dictionary defines perspective as a point of view; a particular attitude towards something or a way of regarding something.
Many people welcome the new year with a list of resolutions. Whether that list is long or short, they all revolve around a positive change. The problem is, if you do not change your mindset then you cannot expect to change your actions. Yes it is a new year, but you are still the same you unless you make a concerted effort to improve.
While the prospect of change can seem daunting, a large part of it revolves around something as simple as perspective. Billy Cox said that you don’t need to close a book to start a new chapter, you just need to turn the page. You don’t need to change everything about yourself to achieve something new. Change what you see as a negative aspect and turn it into something positive. Turn the page and start a new chapter; but remember the plot of your story.
Mary Engelbreit said, “If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.”
Sometimes looking at things with a different perspective is the best way to achieve things. If you have been stuck and can’t seem to do or achieve what you need to, a fresh perspective can shine a light on new opportunities. Henry David Thoreau said that it’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.
Start the new year with a new mindset; with a new perspective. You may be surprised by what you see.
