Life hacks on how to motivate yourself and cope with life stress in a healthy way.
As we all know, it is not always easy getting back in the routine of work, kids and reality. Sometimes it takes up to a month to get back into your original routine of the year. And maybe this year you are aiming a bit higher than the previous year — new goals, new mindset, new vision, new successes. This week we are looking at ways to ensure a healthy mindset, and motivation for the new year that we have entered.
For some, the start is slower than others. Some still feel the exhaustion of the previous year, and just need that little motivational words to put it aside and focus on the new and fresh year. As Roy T. Bennett once said, “Do not let the memories of your past limit the potential of your future. There are no limits to what you can achieve on your journey through life, except in your mind. The past is a place of reference, not a place of residence; the past is a place of learning, not a place of living.”
Stress is one of the biggest factors one struggles with on a daily basis. But one needs to know how to cope with stress and identify the factors in a healthy way, for it is unhealthy to ignore. Roy T. Bennett stated, “Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.”
Defining your stress factors is one of the most important stages of controlling it. Knowing what the source is will allow you to accept and cope with the stress and factors in a healthy way, and not ignoring the truth. What is the healthy techniques to cope and manage every day stress?
First of all, acceptance. According to Brain line, a healthy way to cope with stress is to follow the four A-rules. Change the situation by Avoiding the stressor, Altering the stressor, and by changing your reaction by Adapting to the stressor and Accepting the stressor. Back in the busy schedule, pare down your to-do-list, take control of your environment, Accept the stress and the factor of it, only then you can start managing it.
Part down your to-do-list, take control of your environment, express your feelings instead of bottling them up, be willing to compromise, be so assertive, look at the big picture and what you can take from the stress, look at the positive, accept what you can’t change — don’t try to control the uncontrollable, and learn to forgive and forget. You can also manage your stress by getting the needed rest and relaxation that your mind and body requires. Leaving you with the inspirational words of Alan Watts, “I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is. Don’t hurry anything. Don’t worry about the future. Don’t worry about what progress you’re making. Just me entirely content to be aware of what is.”
