It has been a long and busy year, but now it is time for a much-needed break. As 2019 draws to a close I would like to thank the residents of Roodepoort for taking the time to read our paper and click on our website. The community support keeps the paper going and keeps my journalism dreams alive.
I hope that everyone takes this time to be with their loved ones and forget about all their stresses and troubles. What has happened, has happened, there is no need to dwell. Take this time to be grateful for who and what you have and celebrate everything you can.
Relax and enjoy the good food and company that these next few weeks have to offer. Take this time to unwind and reflect on everything that has happened. Things may have happened that we don’t like, and we may have done things that we are not proud of, but this is the perfect time to start again.
These past five months with the Record have taught me the true meaning of teamwork, camaraderie, and community spirit. Being surrounded by people who support me and push me to be my best and keep going is a true gift; it’s all that I could have asked for, for Christmas. I wake up happy to come to work and be surrounded by like-minded people with similar ambitions, goals, and personalities, and for that I am truly grateful. With the people here, I can’t wait to come back to work and give 2020 a run for its money.
I hope that everyone will find the happiness they deserve in the new year, and that 2020 brings success after success. To all the Roodepoort residents, I hope that you achieve everything you have set out to do in 2020, but for now, I wish you a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
