Word of the day

The word of the day for 13 December is: Camaraderie.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines ‘camaraderie’ as mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together.

Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”.

We need to build relationships with people to achieve success. If you have people supporting you, giving their input, new ideas and solutions, then the workload is less and the outcome is so much greater. Everyone is different, so where you may not see a problem or a solution, someone else will and vice versa.

Mattie Stepanek said, “Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”

When there is camaraderie, there is trust and ambition. You trust others to help you build and they do the same for you. You work together towards a common goal and have a common purpose.

HE Luccock said, “No one can whistle a symphony, it takes a whole orchestra to play it.” You cannot do everything alone, everyone needs someone. Teamwork and friendships make the tough times easier and so much more can be done. Mother Teresa said, “None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”

We must also remember, however, that if we are not willing to trust others and help them, they have no obligation to help and trust us. Jeff Haden said, “Acceptance and camaraderie are earned by effort, not granted by title”.
