The Oxford English Dictionary defines ‘honesty’ as the quality of being free of deceit; to be truthful and sincere.
Thomas Jefferson said that honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. Sometimes being honest is difficult; either you are afraid of hurting someone else, or you are afraid of the consequences you might bring upon yourself.
The truth always comes out though, so it is better to be honest from the get-go. If you are honest from the beginning, you don’t have to live in fear that one day the truth will come out and the consequences will be even worse.
James Altucher said, “Honesty is the fastest way to prevent a mistake from turning into a failure”.
Honesty, as cliché as it may sound, is always the best policy. If you are honest and surround yourself with honest people, life is a lot less stressful. John Lennon said that while honesty may not get you a lot of friends, it will get you the right ones.
James E Faust said, “Honesty is more than not lying. It is truth-telling, truth-speaking, truth-living, and truth-loving.”
