Word of the day

The word of the day for 5 December is: exceptional.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word ‘exceptional’ as being unusual or not typical.

You don’t need to do something huge to make a change in your or someone else’s life. Gandhi said that in a gentle way, you can shake the world.

If you can do something small and unique, it is exceptional. Do something that is not the norm, that the crowd isn’t doing; that is exceptional. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The exceptional life depends not on working harder, but on different, even opposite, actions from habit and the crowd”.

Sometimes, finding your individuality is the best way to find yourself. If you always follow the norm and are afraid to try new things because someone says you shouldn’t, then you will never know your potential.

Maya Angelou said, “If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be”.
