The Oxford English Dictionary defines being grateful as feeling or showing an appreciation for something done or received.
Oprah Winfrey said, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
Saying please and thank you is one of the first things we are taught when we are young, but we only learn the significance of it as we get older.
Showing gratitude is a virtue that can help in not only your happiness but the happiness of those around you as well.
Amy Collette said, “Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.”
If someone knows you are grateful for what they have done for you or given to you, it will make them more willing to help and make them feel more appreciated. The same goes for when someone shows gratitude towards you.
We need to be grateful for those around us and how they help us because, without them, we would not be who we are today or where we are today.
Alfred North Whitehead said, “No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.”
