Black Friday warmth at Pick n Pay Princess Crossing
Within the first hour the store had passed the R100 000 mark
Shoppers have been eagerly planning their Black Friday sprees for several weeks and the time finally came for them to unleash their wallets on the grateful retail sector.
Among the turbulent chaos caused by the adopted Americanism, there was a sea of calm at Pick n Pay Princess Crossing. Doors opened at 6am to a moderate crowd of patient and polite shoppers. Within the first hour the store had passed the R100 000 mark, even though the sale hunters were going about their tasks at a far more leisurely pace than at some other establishments.
Store manager, Sifiso Rabebe, was in great spirits as he geared up for the weekend-long sale. “We really appreciate the community’s support and we hope to see many more shoppers through the doors this weekend. We would love it if we could clear all our stock this weekend. The things that are moving quickly are your everyday items, so customers should move fast,” said an enthusiastic Sifiso.

Few major incidents have been reported so far this Black Friday and shopper behaviour has been far more tame than in previous years. The urge to cash in on the discounts can be irresistible to some and thankfully those doing so – those at Princess Crossing Pick n Pay at least – are treating their fellow shoppers with dignity and respect.
