The driver of the light motor vehicle sustained serious injuries while one of the young passengers was flung from the vehicle. It is yet to be confirmed, but reportedly members of the public rushed the small boy to the hospital before the paramedics arrived. The two other young passengers sustained minor injuries.

Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911 commented on the incident saying, “A minor male passenger from the car, believed to have been ejected, was allegedly transported to hospital by members of the public prior to the arrival of emergency services. All the patients were treated on scene and once stabilised they were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.”
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
